Perfect skin tips.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation.

There is much to like about this velvety-smooth, sheer fluid Chanel Perfection Lumiere Makeup if you have normal to oily or combination skin. The texture is weightless and blends like a dream, providing sheer to light coverage that diffuses flaws yet let’s your natural skin tone show through. Blending must be swift because this dries fast, and this is definitely one of those “shake well before each use” formula!

This looks simply gorgeous on skin and holds up quite well over oily areas, too, assuming you’re not applying anything too slick or creamy beneath it (if you have oily skin you’d ideally want to avoid using such products during the day).

As for the shades, the range caters to those with light to tan skin tones. There are no shades for very fair or dark skin, though what’s offered is almost uniformly excellent, if ever-so-peach-tinged. Shade 70 Beige (the darkest color) sets a bit orange, but some may find it workable.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel bronzing makeup base (earlier known as Bronze Universel).

Chanel is probably one the few companies that makes a good cream bronzer. The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel has been a favorite of makeup artists for many years.. The only downside is that it comes only in a single shade. I purchased it from Nordstrom and it cost USD $48.00. It comes in a huge plastic jar containing 30g of product, which will last forever! It is well worth the money considering the cost per gm of product compared to other brands such as MAC, Benefit, etc.

The product is a gel-cream which is a warm brown shade.. It works on most skin, but might be too light for anybody with deeper skin tone. It can be used on its own or under or above foundation. With a light hand, it makes for a great bronzer and gives a beautiful glow to my skin. When layered and topped off with a powder, this develops into an excellent contour product.

It blends beautifully on the skin and is easy to apply. It can be worn on its own to add warmth to the skin and to even out the skin tone. It leaves behind a diffused, bronzed effect.  It stays put all day and doesn’t look orange/red on my skin. With this product, it’s important to use a good brush that doesn’t shed. It gives a lovely finish to my skin. I highly recommend this product if you are on the market for a natural looking cream bronzer/contour product.

Guerlain Meteorites Powder For the face.

This is my go to product for air brush perfect skin. It has pink, gold, pearl, lavender, and mint balls in here and you swirl it together and buff it onto your skin for healthy air brush look. It also smells great, slight floral scent. It diffuses all my flaws after I use my concealer and this last all day for me.

Teint Rose 02 was my first tin of meteorites balls so I have been using these for about 2-3 years now and love them. I have found them a good choice for my skin tone. I do get a noticeable shimmer from these as they are not as subtle as the pressed version. They are a beautiful finishing powder that leaves you looking soft-focused, slightly airbrushed, healthy and glowy.

Does one need these, no of course not there are other finishing powders out there. These though have some special to them. They make my skin look so much better and in any light.

LOOKBOOK Hype Night in Chicago

Early this summer, I had a meeting with Jason Su of to discuss the current state of the fashion community in Chicago.  Instantly I could feel Jason’s passion not only for fashion but for connecting people who had a common interest, in this case fashion.   Jason envisioned an event that took all the best aspects of and brought them to a local venue with users who interact and use the site regularly.  I knew instantly that Olga and I could deliver and bring Jason’s local vision to life!

After weeks of identifying top sponsors and scouring numerous locations we made our way into Sofitel – Water Tower.  The aura and charm of the hotel made Olga and I know without a doubt that the Sofitel would be the only choice for our event.

On Thursday January 29th, Olga Tsoi, my partner in crime from, and I hosted the LOOKBOOK Hype Night at the world famous Sofitel Chicago Water Tower.

Fur anything

If until recently my addiction was limited to rings, leather and black anything, I confess I’ve added one more item to the infamous list: FUR anything. Well… faux fur to be more specific and for 2015 winter FUR VESTS to be even more accurate.

After years of hesitation and second-guessing myself, I finally bought a fur vest. I had decided this year was the year I was going to buy one, and when I found an amazing Michael Kors piece on sale, I knew it was a sign. I love my fur vest because I think it’s perfect for winter weather. It’s a great layering piece that will keep you cozy without suffocating you, and it’s also a nice statement item that will catch the attention of others. Oh, and obvious side note: my vest is faux fur.

But today we talk fur vests because:

  1.  they are one of this season’s biggest trends, and go perfectly with the 70s obsession happening right now;
  2.  they’re one of the best layering transitional pieces out there, that may not keep us warm (faux fur that is), but instantly dress up a look when worn over jackets, sweaters, dull or repeated outfits. It’s got a sophisticated-luxurious-trendy-grungy-classy-feeling to it. It’s all a matter of personal style and how you pair it up with different items;
  3. I’ve just been gifted with a fabulous white faux fur vest by Michael Kors and a fur Pom-Pom winter vail pull-on hat by BCBG Max Azria, so I wanted to show my favorite winter picks. I know… how selfish of me. icon smile How Would You Wear A Fur Vest? 😉

Great Fashion has No age!

Beauty doesn’t have to be superficial, but for me- dressing the way that makes me feel amazing is the first step. I get incredibly defensive about style when people try to knock it. When I see someone wearing something totally wacky down the street, I don’t recoil in horror! I smile and think, “wow… I wish I had their self confidence!”. It’s almost a statement about how you’re feeling and a way of making other people realise that you’re a confident person. Where did power dressing come from, if not the age-old problem of confidence?

One of my favourite things to watch and read when I’m feeling like this is Advanced Style– a fashion blog documenting street style of older generations. The brains behind the project, Ari Seth Cohen, has a YouTube channel which captures little snippets of these people’s lives. Older ladies and gentlemen tend to have a self confidence that is so hard to find amongst younger generations. One of my favourites in the Advanced Style cohort is Ilona Royce Smithkin- a singer, artist and fantastic dresser. Her approach to life is wonderous and shows through her eclectic style choices.

"Advanced Style" New York Screening

Is the fashion industry finally embracing the older woman? Images of 80-year-old Joan Didion as the new face of Céline and Joni Mitchell, 71, modeling for Saint Laurent have been the talk of the town this week. It’s incredible to see so many older faces taking over the world of fashion advertising!

These women are truly inspirational, and they all share one common factor: Self Confidence. And none of them are looking back at the past or idolising it in some strange form of nostalgia. ‘Fashion’s not about looking back. It’s always about looking forward’- Anna Wintour
